The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is citing businesses with violations because their digital signs are operating at Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI) levels not allowed under federal law and therefore interfere with the wireless spectrum. This interference can affect emergency response service as well as commercial wireless devices. These violations are usually a result of the digital signs not being in compliance with FCC regulations.
The first Sign Industry Professional badges have been awarded to professionals who have demonstrated a comprehensive learning and an understanding of the broad skills needed within the sign, graphics and visual communications industry. The badges are earned by those who complete 70 percent of the available subject area badges offered through the International Sign Association.
New initiative from ISA will inspire and empower women in the sign, graphics and visual communications industry who aspire to elevated leadership roles in their companies and the industry.
ISA's 2019 Board of Directors will receive expert insight from three steering committees which reflect the different types of companies that make up ISA's membership and reflect regional diversity throughout North America.
ISA launched a new digital badge program and new learning management software on October 1, 2018 which has reinvigorated industry excitement for the online courses. 725 digital badges, and growing, have been awarded, and 145% more participants have purchased courses and company packages. 4 individuals have reached the highest level of participation, earning the “Sign Industry Professional” badge.
The course provides an overview of the functions of each department within a sign, graphics and visual communications company to help create a big picture of the creation of a sign. And the course will also cover specifics on each type of sign, such as freestanding signs vs. building-mounted signs.
